Unimpeded by any federal effort to stanch the flow
Consider the absurdity of this line from Sidney Blumenthal's current piece in Salon: "Even as the floodwaters poured into New Orleans, unimpeded by any federal effort to stanch the flow . . . ."
[LINK] So when the 200-foot section of levee gave way, through the fault of Bush Administration policies, there should have been a "federal effort to stanch the flow." How absurd. Blumenthal needs a refresher on the behavior of water.
Blumenthal criticizes Speaker Hastert for (sensibly, it seems to me) questioning whether everyone's favorite municipal deathbowl should be rebuilt. He can't resist bringing up Condoleeza Rice's vacation and shoe shopping habits (must be a joy to be a female official sometimes). Etc.
Salon really has become the Fox News of the left. Kind of too bad, really.
