Three-way race poll: 53-41 Lieberman
I don't think it's any affront to democracy that a Senator who may be easily reelected in a general election might opt to present himself to all the voters in his state even after losing a party primary. The Framers didn't anticipate the modern two-party system and probably would have hated it ("faction"). And they had Senators being chosen by state legislatures.
I'd write more if I had more time, but if the Democratic primary winner can't prevail in November, it's hard to see why he has any entitlement to a senate seat.
