Wash Me!

I'm not impressed with Seattle's newly-unveiled tourism slogan, "Metronatural," which they spent $200K developing. Apparently the prior slogan was—get this— "See-@-L: Soak it up." Like most living here, I was unaware that was our slogan, which is probably a good thing.

(The State of Washington recently abandoned its dopey "SayWA?" slogan. My suggested replacement is above.)

I'm not impressed with the tourism website built around "Metronatural." The copy is just not good. For example: "From a jet engine to an espresso machine to grunge rock, Seattle's world-changing events have all had a distinct sound." Those aren't "events."

My favorite is the "Annual temperatures and rainfall" table with columns headed "Avg Daily Max. Temperature" and "Avg Daily Max. Rainfall." I'd boast that today's zero rainfall was well below the "average daily max," but the table only includes months other than October.

But you should still visit Seattle! It only rains .73 inches per day in July.
