Roll on 7000
With the counter nearing 7000, I was looking around for some kind of 7000-meter peak tie-in, which I have yet to find. Naturally, though, I did find some interesting facts.
- 146 of the 448 7000-meter-plus peaks have never been climbed.
- The highest point in Florida, Britton Hill, is 345 feet above sea level. I'm sorry, but I can't imagine living in a place like that. It seems almost comical to me. Here in Seattle, we've removed hills that would be impressive landmarks in a place like Florida.
- The highest point in Iraq is an unnamed peak. Perhaps it would have been deemed disrespectful to call it "Mount Saddam".
- Colorado has three mountains that are taller than Mount Rainier. The aggregate by which these exceed Mount Rainier in height is 44 feet. Meanwhile, Mount Whitney in California is 84 feet higher than Mount Rainier.
