Roll on VH Day!
With the exception of two good friends—normally pictures of charm and sense, now showing odd transference issues—everyone seems to be relishing my upcoming Hillary Drops Out! party. Just when it will happen is anyone's guess, but the writing has been on the wall since
Valentine's Day or thereabouts. I'll be setting the party for the day after she pulls that ripcord, and the nice thing about Seattle is that it hardly matters whether VH Day is a weekend, because my guests can't be relied on to stay past 11:15 even on a Saturday night.
I'm having fun putting together the
iTunes playlist. As you would
imagine, the
challenge is deciding whether and how to cull the list (current size: 65 songs). When you factor in
irony and the need for an occasional
sop, the list just takes wing.
Labels: 2008 presidential campaign, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Obama vs. McCain

It's not that I don't support Obama... my issue is more that I don't want to celebrate the demise of a (to me) worthy candidate.
As much as I LOATHE the current Prez aka the Idiot King, I won't be throwing any parties for him either.
Why can't we all just get along?
Whether we should be happy she was in the race at all may depend on our definitions of "worthy" and our perceptions of her motivations and character. For the better part of two decades I've been stunned by how many people don't see right through her. My personal view is that the party and the country have really dodged a bullet.
Regardless of how worthy we think Hillary is, it's well past time for her to bow out with whatever dignity she can muster. I hope her reputation is permanently tarnished by this mismanaged campaign, her and her husband's conduct during it, and her increasingly absurd unwillingness to end it. But we can all agree it will be good for the party if the eventual nominee is able to assume that role without fear of quixotic contradiction.
LOVED THE COMMENT ABOUT YOUR PLAYLIST JUST TAKING WING. WILL CONSIDER USING THAT UPLIFTING TURN OF PHRASE MORE OFTEN IN MY OWN WRITING.
