Cool, though weird

The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE: GS) today announced that it will become the fourth largest Bank Holding Company . . . . With over $150 billion in assets, GS Bank USA will be one of the ten largest banks in the United States. - Goldman Sachs press release, September 21, 2008
Conveniently or inconveniently, they're currently engaged to sell WaMu in whole or in part. I wouldn't put it past them to find a way to snap up that branch network.
