Rainbow Ridge
I had a lovely hike up to Rainbow Ridge in the North Cascades on Saturday. Last time I was there, in September (below), it was socked in and raining, sleeting and snowing almost the entire time. This time there were tremendous views of Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan.
It was a short hike but steeper than I remembered from when I was preoccupied with my footing in the steady rain, sleet and snow. My uncle--not a big hiker--joined me for what I may have implied would be a nice mild walk in the woods ("Gee, yesterday I couldn't even spell 'forty-five-degree angle'!") and afterward I had to apologize for overselling the ease of the hike much like "Christopher Columbus recruiting his crew."

Don't trust snakes or sneaky hiking "BUDDIES"...opting out of "easy" hikes with "buddy" as well as alone.
