Gerhard Schroeder, Russian employee
I can't say that
this does much for the moral authority of a figure who has been one of the United States' prominent European critics over the past several years. If only other countries would exclusively elect very wealthy people as their leaders, as we do in the U.S., they might be spared these kinds of miscues by just-departed leaders. By and large, U.S. leaders seem to focus on doing questionable things
while still in office, and isn't it really better that way?
Speaking of moral authority, who
does have it in today's world if not the U.S. and the U.K.? I wouldn't say it was the Chiracs and Schroeders, or Putin, or the rulers of China. Maybe no one has moral authority these days.
