Blogs: The backbone of the scholarly economy

I love watching "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" when Katrina Vanden Heuvel of The Nation is a guest for the roundtable discussion. She says the most remarkable things.

Yesterday, the very first words out of her mouth were: "Undocumented immigrants are the backbone of this economy." Sorry . . . did she say "backbone"? It sounded like "backbone."
