Res ipsa loquitur

There is a thread on Photo.net right now that is an appreciation of deceased pets. I'm not going to make any comment, but I am going to post a few excerpts in the interest of perspective.
"Dogs are the closest glimpse I've ever gotten to Angels."

"[B]ack in January, the most kind and wise soul [a cat] I have ever known passed away after a short illness."

"A few years ago, I lost Dunbar (a cat) who was more important to me than anyone."

"When Midnight passed on to the next plane of existence, we lost a great soul."

"Dogs are the best people."

Finger in mouth, sound of gagging disgust. THEY'RE ANIMALS!! If they seem to love you a lot....it's because you give them food and shelter.

What underlying need does this current worship of animals fill? I could easily live the rest of my life without ever seeing another dog or cat.

Can't decide what offends most Americans more: the declaration that you are an atheist or admitting that you don't care one fig about cats and dogs.
