Online Doonesbury readers: a reactionary lot?

There's an interesting slice of popular opinion to be found over at Slate's Doonesbury site right now. The current absurdly unscientific "straw poll" there asks "How would you reform immigration?" The key thing to remember is what a skewed and self-selecting population probably participates in these straw polls. Let's just say it's unlikely that most people arriving at Slate's Doonesbury site were referred from here or here. When they ran a straw poll on whether President Bush should be impeached, censured or left alone for somewhat unspecified transgressions, I think only about 11% of respondents favored the last option. I'd like to be able to check my recollection on that, but I can't locate an archive of these straw polls.

Permit me to distill the results as of 11:16 a.m. PDT today, based on almost 13,000 responses:
  • Seal off the southern border and "return all illegals" - 51%

  • Seal off the southern border and begin a citizenship process for the undocumented who are already here - 35%

  • Do nothing / What immigration crisis? - 13%
Makes you wonder what a true cross-section of the electorate would say.
