Gothic Basin

If you'd like to view some photos from my recent hike to Gothic Basin (during which no digits were forfeited, my dictatorial powers not being what they might), I've posted them to a newly-created Don't Trust Snakes web album on Picasa Web Albums. I've also added a photo-album link in the sidebar and will plan to add photos of other subjects from time to time as I see fit.

I've erred on the side of including many views of the basin becasue it's a many-spleandored place, and because I'm too lazy to do a proper hard edit. Also because you're unlikely ever to make it up there yourself. Also . . . it's pretty.

After you've viewed these images, you can decide whether my uncle was entirely fair when he described this route as "a generic river-bottom hike, followed by a steep climb up to an anonymous cirque." We're spoiled here, what can I say?. (I think he meant to say "a generic river-bottom hike followed by a steep climb with no telemark opportunities at the top.")
