Just rename the damn show, or cancel it, or make it a game show, or something!

I'm not sure it's appropriate to say that ABC News Nightline is a shadow of its former self, since that would suggest it preserves a recognizable outline of the original. It really doesn't. I keep tuning in and hoping it will get better, but it never does. Sometimes the pablum and pandering is just too much to bear. Ted Koppel would not have ended the hour with an update on the beloved (so they tell us) Barbaro. Yes, a turn for the worse for Barbaro, very sad. Big news. The IDF closing Lebanon? Better try CNN.

Koppel would not have signed off, as Martin Bashir did tonight, with "Good night, America."
