Just awaiting some results

No substantive election results to write about as yet, generalized exit poll results suggest a majority of people think the country is going in the wrong direction and are voting on national rather than local issues. But I think we learned two years ago that exit polls are totally unreliable and seem to oversample opponents of the status quo. They also don't capture absentee voters.

Today at the polling place one of the workers made a great show of asking everyone whether they wanted to vote in English or Chinese. I guess Chinese is the only language alternative that census data indicate needs to be offered here. Of course, none of the people he was asking looked remotely Asian. This tells you a little something about Seattle, or at least my neighborhood. I wonder what he would have asked people if, say, seven different languages were available.
