Mysteries of Chrstianity

Just two quick quick questions:
  • Why is it that I have such an unerring sense for which random blogs will prove to have significant Christian content? Too bad there's no money in it. Seriously, I'll just get this little tingle, whereupon of course I'll go searching for proof. And inevitably, like clockwork, I'll run across an entry such as this one:
Well, this morning was a very emotional morning. Pastor Dale, our senior pastor, preached his last sermon at church to begin his retirement. I hate days like this. I controlled myself pretty well, until Pastor Peter (who left last summer and returned this morning) got up to say a few words. Then Pastor Dale went on to preach on John 3:16 . . . .
In my world there are no pastors.

  • Is it not a little odd that serious Christians make up the most prominent part of the pro-life movement? Shouldn't a steadfast belief in heaven make all the killing of unborn babies seem like not such a big deal? They are, after all, going to heaven, right? And the murderers and other sinners involved in the abortions are going to hell, presumably. I'm being slightly flippant here, but it does seem odd that Christians are so troubled by the slaughter of innocents. Again, don't the innocents get to go to heaven? Isn't that kind of the whole point of the religion, to get through this life and get on up to heaven? Is the problem that the unborn don't have the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior? That would seem a little harsh.
