This is probably the only exposure hundreds of thousands of people will have this year to a statement about the vote you need to pass a bill in the Senate.
For the record, you need 51 votes, a simple majority, to "actually get a bill passed." If there is a filibuster, you need 60 votes to impose cloture and thereby force the matter to a vote after not more than 30 additional hours of debate. Filibusters don't occur very often.
