This would be such a sweet week for the bottom to fall out
I am waiting for the Democratic establishment to start turning on the Clintons like slightly younger male gorillas on an injured silverback. I think we'll start to see more of that. Besides Kerry, since he's lame. I wonder what Ted Kennedy will do. I wonder what Al Gore will do. The Clintons f***ed over Al Gore in 2000, as you recall. - MWR, email message, January 11, 2008What I wouldn't give to see Gore jump in this week. Very doubtful that he will, which is both admirable and not, but wouldn't it be great?
What an interesting ten days it will be even still. Say what you will about the master cattle-futures trader most recently representing her native New York State in the Senate, but I don't see how anyone can have the smallest amount of passion for her presidential candidacy. Who supposedly does, anyway? White women? I still don't get that one, besides her being a white woman, I guess. But that's just a bit of an affinity, surely, and not the basis for passion. People who think she's the most "electable"? Hardly a reason for passion. And also wrong, for what it's worth, as I'm sure I've detailed elsewhere.
I could go on, but it would just be different ways of saying that I'm bewildered by the idea that anyone is excited about supporting Hillary, voting for her, having her as President. This would be such a sweet week for the bottom to fall out of the Clinton campaign, for millions of her nominal supporters in key states to suddenly wake up, like sci-fi zombies when the central control transmitter is destroyed, wondering "What am I doing here? Why am I building this?" O.K., maybe not quite like that.
