Sir Paul, media victim
This raises an interesting question. Who among today's world-famous people (define it as you like) has been world famous for the longest? Please post your answers as comments. I'll have to ponder this one for a while.

Jesus has been famous for a while... but he was killed at the age of 32 so he only had 30 years of 'dealing with fame.' Unless you want to count the afterlife, which I'm guessing you don't.
So, going with the living famous I would say that Elisabeth Windsor, Queen of England has been living with the irritations of fame longer than Sir Paul. She can't burp without the whole country wanting to make a parade - that's got to be hard on a gal.
Yes, I was thinking of actual living people. Plus, we don't have much basis for deciding whether Jesus was well known in his own time.
Something in me rebels against the suggestion of Elizabeth II. I guess I should have limited it to people who are world famous for something they acutally did, instead of because of an accident of birth and/or who their uncle wanted to marry.
Well, you just said famous... ;-)
I'm going to have to go with tp_gal on this one. I can't think of anyone older...but if you are going to be a stickler on the famous because of doing something, etc. we could go with Mick Jagger (although he doesn't seem to be as bothered by fame). Neil Armstrong? The perfect answer would be Ted Williams, if only he were still alive...
