Introducing the new and exciting Don't Trust Snakes favicon

I have just finished educating myself about how to associate a customized favorites icon ("favicon") with the blog. The form is rather limited as they can only be 16x16 pixels and are limited to 16 colors in the web-safe color palette.

I believe you will only be able to see the favicon if you re-bookmark the blog (i.e., re-add it to your favorites, for you stubborn or enterprise-constrained readers still using Internet Explorer). I suggest you refresh the page, then re-bookmark, then use the bookmark to visit the page—it may be that all that is not necessary to see the favicon, but it might be. Please tell me you can be bothered to do those little things. Firefox users should also see the favicon in the browser tab for the blog.

After you've succeeded in seeing the favicon, please leave me a comment and tell me what you think of my artistry. (I know you well enough to expect that few will leave a comment, but please note that I just asked you nicely, and reflect on what you pay for this blog.) Sixteen by sixteen hides a multitude of sins, but it may still help you to know that the image is not an alembic still. I'm not wedded to this effort, but I think it's not bad—representational enough and graphically simple enough for the 16x16 medium.

Tomorrow I will post the information about how this is done. (Apparently I have used a color that is not in the approved palette, but it seems to work in Firefox and Explorer, and probably works also in Safari since, as everyone knows, Macs are amazingly superior to PCs despite the many suicides the single-mouse-button setup has caused.)
