Two things I have not heard mentioned about Gerald Ford today
- He was born Leslie Lynch King, Jr., making him one of that improbably large group of presidents and presidential contenders who started life with different names: Gary Hartpence, William Blythe, Wesley Kanne. I think there are others.
- How different the last 25 years would likely have unfolded if Ford had been willing to join Ronald Reagan on the ticket in 1980. Most likely, George H.W. Bush would have faded into obscurity, and his son would not have had the opportunities he did. And who's to say what would have happened in the 1992 election.
