My random comments on the second half of the Super Bowl

  • 14-3 down. This, in my view, is the type of situation the Seahawks aren't used to being in. I think I said something about this before. They are largely untested in must-win, come-from-behind situations. I guess we'll see what they're made of.

  • Wow, this Pittsburgh drive is not restoring my confidence.

  • When you hear the phrase "from the creator of SNL, Lorne Michaels," run the other way!

  • Ah, a good ending to the aforementioned Pittsburgh drive.

  • I wish Stevens would stop dropping passes.

  • "Holding." It seems like they are calling this game pretty tightly for a Super Bowl.

  • Oh, good, let's get totally burned on a trick play. Great. That's what Hasselbeck gets for saying stuff like "Everyone knows what we do . . . it's up to them to stop us." Because no one knew that Pittsburgh ran trick plays with Randle El passing the ball.

  • When did the term "gadget play" come into use? Before this year? I hate it. What was wrong with "trick play"?

  • O.K., guys--what are you made of?

  • Nice of us to "pin" Pittsburgh at their own 20 every time by kicking everything into the end zone. Is that our plan?

  • Well, so much for that.
