"Extremists on both sides"

Tonight's ABC News "closer look" segment on the caricatures just concluded with a comment something to the effect that "extremists on both sides" were once again escalating tensions. Then, as evidence, the reporter noted that "today a Ukrainian newspaper reprinted the cartoons" and some other violent protests took place somewhere.

How does reprinting the cartoons equate to extremism? Moral relativism has come too far when journalists glibly tag their colleagues as extremists in order to end a reporting segment on a neatly balanced note.
