This just in . . .

WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 — Democrats are heading into this year's elections in a position weaker than they had hoped for, party leaders say, stirring concern that they are letting pass an opportunity to exploit what they see as widespread Republican vulnerabilities. - New York Times, February 8, 2006
Let us list the names of the party leaders quoted in the article and see if that illuminates the problem at all.

Christopher Dodd, Barack Obama, Ted Kennedy, Gov. Phil Bredesen of Tennessee, Howard Dean, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi, Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, Evan Bayh, Richard Durbin, John Edwards and Barbara Boxer.

Does that help? No? O.K., take out Obama, Bredesen and Bayh. Does that help?
